Our Pastors

Pastor Bob DeGray: Hi! As senior pastor, I'm excited about the mission and vision of Trinity Fellowship as we strive to make mature disciples (devoted followers of Jesus) in the Friendswood area. I hope that you will give our worship service a try, and meet our friendly, caring people.

Here's a brief biography: I became a follower of Jesus in my teens and grew in my faith as I studied engineering in beautiful downtown Hoboken, New Jersey, across the Hudson River from the (then) World Trade Center. I spent the early part of my career as a mechanical engineer working for (then) Exxon, which moved me to Texas in 1981. In 1986 I left to form my own company, doing engineering software and consulting. That business was successful enough that when I sensed God leading me to seminary I was able to pay for school with the proceeds of the sale of my business, and do consulting with the new owners to pay for food and such.

I attended seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, near Chicago Illinois, and graduated in 1992. Then I returned to join with a group of people from the Clear Lake area in starting Trinity Evangelical Free Church (now Trinity Fellowship, but still an Evangelical Free Church), with a vision to reach those who do not yet know Jesus and to build up those who have come to know Him. My philosophy of ministry is simple: 'Preach the Word and love the people.' My attitude toward preaching is also simple: I want to say again for contemporary hearers what God has already said in the Bible.

My wife Gail and I have been married over 25 years. We have six children: Bethany (third from right, now 22); Abigail (middle, 19); Hannah (left front, 16); Ruth (right front, 15); Christina (8); and Michael (7). We'd all love to meet and get to know you!

Pastor Mike Bauer: Mike is our associate pastor of outreach, assimilation and discipleship. He is a recent graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, but has almost ten years of pastoral experience before and during seminary. Mike's goal is to equip the people of Trinity to reach out to their friends, neighbors and co-workers; to help us be better at making meaningful contact with and serving new people that God brings through our doors; and to oversee the process of discipleship by which believers at Trinity grow in the faith. We're excited to have Mike on-board as our second full time staff person, and thrilled at the help he is giving us.

Mike was born in Buffalo, New York, and grew into his teens without knowing the Good News about Jesus. Then, at the age of 17, after reading the whole New Testament, he placed his faith in Christ alone for forgivness and eternal life. Over the course of several years God convinced him that he needed to be in full time ministry. After recieving a Masters in Christian Education from Temple Baptist Seminary, Mike ministered for a number of years as a youth pastor in Mandeville, Lousiana. Then he and his family moved to Dallas to complete a Masters of Theology Degree. While at Dallas, Mike was the Elementary Age pastor at Northwest Bible Church.

Mike met his wife Shawn while in Mandeville, and they were married in 1998. God has blessed them with three boys and a girl: Cody was born in 1999, Cade in 2001, Christian in 2003, and Emily in 2006. Mike enjoys playing with his children, hockey, football, hunting, fishing - and sharing the excitement of following Jesus.
