Each year the youth group participates in the 30 Hour Famine, a World Vision program which raises money to feed the starving around the world. Youth collect donations and then famine for 30 hours in order to get a small glimpse of what it is like to go hungry. During the famine, kids participate in service projects. This year's 30 Hour Famine was a huge success, and we want to thank those who donated money for this cause, the adult sponsors who helped, and Sarah Ingram, who organized the events.

There aren't any pictures of us going door to door collecting donations and cell phones to benefit the Russia Project, but we had fun and the Lord blessed us through the generosity of many Friendswood families. After we got back, Mr. Norman brought his painting supplies and helped paint the west wall of the sanctuary.

Noah and Jamie did a good bit of the painting work, and they did a good job.

"The joy of the Lord is my strength." The LIFE worship team led us in worship songs as we fixed our attention on the Lord, and not on ourselves or our hunger.

Mr. Jackson spoke to us about selfless love and sacrifice and read a moving story about Gladys Alward, a missionary in China who led nearly a hundred orphaned children over hundreds of miles to safety during World War II.

Mrs. DeGray graciously shared her gift of cooking delicious meals and made us tortellini soup and her famous tomato basil bread. Not that we were terribly picky after 30 hours of drinking water and juice and eating nothing... but it was wonderful.
